West Coast Love

I'm beginning to seriously reconsider the name and over-all existence of this blog.
If it wasn't for a few precious morsels I just discovered I may have considered it moot for too long.

I guess as with every large trend or shift in social culture (BLOGGING), there comes a point when a thing looses its specialness. When its plundered and over saturated and suddenly there is nary a thing that excites you in an overly familiar realm.

The things that do still seem worth a few characters are the things that have been important to me since befor I knew how to use a credit card or who alexander wang was.

After you watch this trailer go visit http://savestateparks.org/ and then visit http://thefirst70.com/ and find a screening.

If your style-seeking-self happens to be mozzien around Seattle this weekend (like i will be) these bad boys will be making and personal appearance at the coming soon space Saturday night.

check it:

THIS Saturday, August 21st @ 8pm, the COMING SOON space will be transformed into an interactive pop-up shop, debuting an 'outdoors meets fashion' inspired eyewear brand – Drift Eyewear. The launch will be the first for the brand in the Northwest. Their unique aesthetic alone is worth the trip but once you learn about their revolutionary construction and eco-friendly design you'll be hooked. The installation – designed by COMING SOON – will turn the showroom into a floor-to-ceiling, merchandisable forest– with sunglass and eyeglass

frames hanging from the branches. Shopping will become an interactive experience – as you discover the various styles within the trees while trying them on to see which wood/ frame fits your look.
*All frames will be available for purchase during Saturday night's opening and also Sunday 12-5. The designer and founder of the featured brand will be flying in from Chicago for the opening weekend as well.
**Bar built and provided by SHELTER lounge.

PRESERVATION

"Layers of time appear through the visible essence of amber. Extracting inspiration from this ancient material, Jaeuk Jung has created a solution to reflect on the final moments of decaying objects. Michael Thonet’s design classic “chair No. 14” is forever sealed with the help of high technology into the amber-like chambers of polymer. An object from the past can live even longer, sharing classic beauty as contemporary design. Amber Chair is an indication about the present and future, through telling a story of respect and creating a new cycle for objects."

This piece was part of Milan Design Week 2010 "THE SAVAGE MIND / LA PENSÉE SAUVAGE" (which by the way is almost as savage as the coast).

Dear Jaeuk Jung, amber is the color of your energy.
